Voici une commande réalisée pour Pascal, un fidèle client de l'atelier depuis de nombreuses années et fan de blues.

Pascal n'avait pas une idée précise de la guitare qu'il souhaitait mais il savait quel son et quel confort de jeu il voulait.

La guitare fut finalement basée sur une Ibanez modèle S en lui ajoutant un caractère plus proche des Gibson ES335 et LP. 

Elle devait être légère, avoir un manche fin type Wizard III, une action basse, une électronique simple et un son typé blues.

Pour le son et le confort recherché, voici les choix effectués:

De l'acajou africain pour le corps. Sa sonorité accentue les fréquences moyennes, tout en restant équilibré. Les notes fondamentales sont nettes et les harmoniques enrichies.

Un corps chambré dans le style des Thinlines. Evider le corps permet une perte de poids  mais également un son plus rond et chaud, grâce à une accentuation des moyennes.

De l'érable américain pour la table. Une sonorité qui accentue les hauts médiums et les aigues, tout en gardant des basses articulées. Des notes précises en toutes occasions.

Le chevalet fixe Babicz apporte une précision de réglage parfaite grâce a son système unique de pontets. Il donne un excellent confort de jeu. Fabriqué en aluminium, il laisse transparètre toutes les qualités sonores du corps.

Un set de micros Wilde L90 6.0 & 8.0H très polyvalents.

C'est en 1976, que Bill Lawrence (Framus, Gibson, Fender,...) a sorti le L90. Il a révolutionné l'industrie de la guitare en lançant un nouveau design de micro à double lame. A cette époque, il existait deux modèles, le L90 4.0 et le L90 6.0. Ces micros sont sortis à un moment où le PAF dominait et le L90 est un micro haute performance sans retour, solidement monté, sans bourdonnement et avec un beau son crémeux dans les graves. En 2006, une version à plus haut niveau de sortie est venue compléter la gamme, le 8.0H. 

Ces micros laissent transparaître toutes les qualités acoustiques de l'instrument et le passage en split n'a rien à envier à un vrai singlecoil.

Des contrôles simples via un potentiomètre de volume push/push pour le split et un mini switch pour le tone.

Un profile de manche fin. La touche a un radius compensé de 10-17" et des frettes larges pour un confort maximum.

Un truss rod double action et des renforts de manche en paulownia pour un réglage fin et une stabilité de manche parfaite.

Pour le bois du manche, notre choix s'est fixé sur l'acajou pour son visuel et ses caractéristiques sonores. L'acajou donne une certaine rondeur tout en gardant des fréquences équilibrées. Ajoutez-y une touche en palissandre indien qui apporte juste un peu de rondeur et vous obtenez le bon équilibre.

Here is an order made for Pascal, a loyal customer of the workshop for many years and a blues fan.

Pascal didn't have a precise idea of the guitar he was looking for, but he knew what kind of sound and playing comfort he wanted.

The guitar was finally based on an Ibanez Model S adding a character closer to the Gibson ES335 and LP.

It had to be light, have a thin Wizard III neck, low action, simple electronics and a typical blues sound.

For the sound and the desired comfort, here are the choices made :

African mahogany for the body. Its sound accentuates the mid frequencies, while remaining balanced. The fundamental notes are clear and the harmonics enriched.

A body chambered in the style of the Thinlines. Hollowing out the body allows for weight loss, but also a rounder and warmer sound, thanks to an accentuation of the mids.

American maple for the top. A sound that accentuates the high mids and highs, while keeping the bass articulated. Accurate notes on all occasions.

The Babicz fixed bridge brings a perfect precision of the adjustment thanks to a unique saddles systems. It gives excellent playing comfort. Made of aluminum, it lets all the sound qualities of the body shine through.

A set of very versatile Wilde L90 6.0 & 8.0H pickups.

Bill Lawrence (Framus, Gibson, Fender,...) released the L90 in 1976. He revolutionized the guitar industry by introducing a new dual-blade pickup design. At that time, there were two models, the L90 4.0 and the L90 6.0. This pickup came out at a time when PAF was dominating and the L90 is a high performance non-feedback pickup that's solidly mounted with no hum and a nice creamy low end sound. In 2006, a higher output version was added to the range, the 8.0H.

These pickups reveal all the acoustic qualities of the instrument and the split coil has nothing to envy to a real singlecoil.

Simple controls via a push/push volume potentiometer for the split and a mini switch for the tone.

A neck with a thin profile. The fingerboard has a compensated radius of 10-17" and wide frets for maximum comfort. A double action truss rod and paulownia neck reinforcements for fine tuning and perfect neck stability. For the wood of the neck, our choice was fixed on mahogany for its visual and its sound characteristics. The mahogany gives a certain roundness while keeping the frequencies balanced. Add an Indian rosewood fingerboard that adds just a bit of roundness and you've got the right balance.
